Football News

Former England favourite Michael Owen joined Real from Premier League outfit Liverpool in August 2004. During that stage of his career, the injury-prone striker was one of world football's most formidable frontmen.

His spell at the club lasted just one season, with Owen notching a respectable 19 goals in 43 games. Despite often proving his worth on the pitch, the 33-year-old has since admitted that he found it difficult to acclimatise to his new surroundings away from the field.

Owen eventually swapped Madrid for Tyneside in August 2005, signing a four-year deal with Newcastle United.
