Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar moved to Real for a fee believed to be in the region of £17 million back in January 2009. Despite high hopes for the potent striker, however, his stay in La Liga lasted just seven months.
Huntelaar struggled to impose himself at the Bernabeu, netting eight goals in 20 league appearances in the famous white strip. Like Robben, the eventful summer of 2009 that saw competition for places in the squad significantly increase proved to the end for Huntelaar.
He moved to Serie A title hopefuls AC Milan in August 2009.
