Both north London clubs have invested in top quality midfielders in the transfer window and, on the face of it, it seems that Arsenal have the signed the better player with bags on international and club experience at just the age of 24.

However, the fact that Arsenal are possessed with many attacking midfielders does pose the question whether the £42.5million pounds paid for the German international. Although technically this signing makes perfect sense it is far from the being the best transfer when value is taken into account.

The only reason why this transfer is generating hype and publicity is due to Arsenal's lack of stellar signings and the inflated fee needed to gain the playmakers acquisition.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a great transfer window which has seen the north London club reel in seven top quality internationals. One of these internationals is Christian Eriksen, who Spurs paid a reported fee of £11.5 million which highlights the value of the transfer.

Despite Spurs being blessed with top quality midfielders, this Eriksen will provide a more creative style with added flair. This creativity that Eriksen can provide was much needed in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat at the Emirates and therefore the addition of Eriksen is much needed.

The midfield three of Mousa Demebele, Etienne Capoue and Paulinho lack the attacking flair that Spurs were key exponents of when players such as Luka Modric and Rafael Van Der Vaart were at the club.

Contrastingly, Arsenal have the likes of Santi Cazorla who is more than capable of filling the void left by Özil. With Eriksen's fee being a quarter of that paid by Arsenal for Özil it is clear that the White Hart Lane outfit have trumped their rivals.

Despite being only 21 years of age, the Danish attacker already has 37 caps, which is just 10 below the 24-year-old German. It is very rare for a player who has just started his career to have so much experience internationally and in the Champions League.

Tottenham have truly signed a star and, although maybe not initially, Eriksen may become one of the finest midfielders in the world after already establishing himself as on of the best young talents.
