Boston Celtics forward Jared Sullinger has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges against his girlfriend, according to the Boston Globe.
The charge came about after Sullinger was alleged to have pinned his girlfriend to a bed before snatching her phone as she tried to call the police.
Sullinger, 21, who is about to start his second season at the NBA side, was thought to have turned himself in during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to widespread reports, Sullinger was released on $5,000 bail with conditions but appeared in court later the same day.
Sullinger was charged with assault and battery, malicious destruction of property and witness intimidation against his girlfriend Deann Smith.
The NBA rookie, who suffered with a back injury towards the end of last season, averaged six points and almost six rebounds per game in 45 games. He is due back in court on September 19.
