The Premier League is always the main attraction English Football, but the Championship promotion race is sometimes more exciting then the title race. Some consider the Championship to be the more difficult of the two due to the amount of games that you have to play.
One team so far that has surprised the league is Blackpool. The Tangerines, once a part of the Premier League, had a bad season last year, losing manager Ian Holloway before also losing the subsequent managers that replaced him until installing star player Tom Ince’s father Paul in the role.
Blackpool lost a lot of their squad in the summer and were only able to add players on a shoe-string budget. While in the transfer window most were mainly concerned about if Manchester United would be able to hold on to Wayne Rooney, if Liverpool would be able to hold on to Luis Suarez or if Tottenham would be able to hold on to Gareth Bale, Blackpool were also keen to hold onto their star man.
Blackpool received bids for Tom Ince and had accepted a bid from Cardiff before Ince turned the move down. Paul Ince was thankful to keep his son at the club but was less successful keeping tricky-winger Matty Phillips. Ince senior has been able to add to his squad with left-back Jack Robinson coming on loan from liverpool as well as other key signings early in the summer. Ince senior made a couple moves on transfer deadline day too, adding attacking and defensive options with the signings of Nathan Tyson and Bradley Orr.
Although the season has only just started Blackpool, five games in, are leading the way with 13 points. Five games obviously won't decide who will gain promotion and catapult their club to financial glory but, with Tom Ince still at the club and the sheer fighting spirit that the Blackpool players have displayed, they could just achieve their dream. Blackpool, similarly to the period when they were under the management of Holloway, might have a chance of being back in the big time come next August.
