Gareth Bale's agent has revealed this week that the Welshman's switch from Tottenham to Real Madrid had been discussed for over three months.
At the start of negotiations back in May, the Spanish giants made a huge financial promise to Bale, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.
The former Tottenham playmaker was promised a staggering payment of £16.9million by Real Madrid to fend off interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United also showed interest in the Welshman but only signed Marouane Fellaini in a last minute deadline day transfer.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Bale only ever had the intention of making a move to Real Madrid.
"I'm not interested in Manchester United or any other team. I just want to play for Madrid," the former Spurs player said after being unveiled at the Bernabeu.
The transfer saga of the summer ended with Bale making his move to Real Madrid for a record-breaking £86million.
