Michael Ballack is looking forward to a "completely new challenge" when he joins Chelsea from Bayern Munich this summer.

Germany are divided over the 29-year-old´s showing in the World Cup, which was hampered by a string of minor injuries. Many feel the captain lived up to his billing as a true leader, yet he failed to find the back of the net - but Ballack is happy to see the back of a long season.

"It is important to get a rest now," he told PA Sport after the match. "It was a long and very stressful season. First of all, I am looking forward to a vacation - but then am looking forward to playing for Chelsea, because it is something completely new."
