David Luiz has revealed he had an offer to join Barcelona this summer - but decided to stay at Chelsea.
According to Goal.com, the Catalan giants made a £21.5m bid for Luiz at the beginning of the summer window - only to be told by Chelsea that offers less than £43m will not be considered.
And the Brazilian international has now confirmed their was an bid lodged by Barcelona.
"There was an official offer [from Barcelona] but I decided to stay at Chelsea," Luiz told reporters while on international duty with Brazil.
"I am happy to play for a big club and be in the national team to represent my country."
The Chelsea defender was Barcelona's principal summer target as they looked to strengthen their defensive options.
But after the Stamford Bridge side shot down their pursuit of Luiz, Gerardo Martino turned his attentions to Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
A move wasn't possible there either though, with Brendan Rodgers keen to keep hold of his most talented centre-back.
In the end, Barcelona were forced to settle without strengthening their defensive ranks - and Martino insisted he was "happy" with the team he has after no centre-back was brought in.
