Towards the end of his Arsenal career, it was clear that Ivory Coast winger Gervinho needed a new start.

The sight of him staggering towards the touchline with the ball with seemingly no idea what he was doing, became commonplace at the Emirates and he Gervinho was finally put out of his misery with a switch to Italian side Roma this summer.

If his performance against Verona is anything to go by, it will take a while for the Ivorian to shake the cobwebs away and get some level of confidence back following a desperately poor time at Arsenal.

Gervinho signed for the Gunners from Lille in 2011 after impressing during his time in French football but failed to recreate this form in North London, becoming the subject of much ridicule from football fans all over England.

And the winger hasn't quite endeared himself to the Roma faithful yet, as he spurned two golden opportunities to net his first goal for the club. Fortunately, they went on to win 3-0 anyway and spared Gervinho's blushes.
