Commentators

Often with seconds to get facts right and make judgements, sometimes football commentators mix their words up and come up with the most outrageous comments...

"For those of you watching in black and white, Spurs are in the all yellow strip," said John Motson to television viewers.

"Strangely, in slow motion replay, the ball seemed to hang in the air for even longer," once said David Acfield. Funny that!

"He had an eternity to play that ball… but he took too long over it," said Martin Tyler. I wonder if it took Tyler as long to realise what he had just said.

"They [Rosenborg] have won 66 games, and they've scored in all of them," once said eagle-eyed ITV analyst and commentator Brian Moore.

"Both sides have scored a couple of goals, and both sides have conceded a couple of goals," once said ex-player and manager Peter Withe on commentary duty. Stick to managing, Peter.
