Nick Powell has been handed the opportunity to showcase his talent knowing full well that he has a safe place to return to in Old Trafford should he show the same talent that he exhibited in League Two with Crewe.

Wigan Athletic will allow him the opportunity to help them boost their chances of a swift return the Premier League. With Powell getting limited opportunities at Manchester United, this is a great opportunity for him to show how good he can really be.

With possible departures from Old Trafford in the coming transfer windows, Powell may have a chance to establish himself next season, especially if injuries were to occur to the combative types such as Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones, who has featured in the centre for Manchester United.

For Powell's career at Old Trafford, a lot rests on the future of Shinji Kagawa, Tom Cleverly and Anderson.

Wigan represents a great opportunity for Powell to play a long season and really show his talent.

A successful loan spell may be met with either a loan to a Premier League club or a bench position next season, from which he will get opportunities to play for the Premier League champions next season.
