Younes Kaboul wanted by Fiorentina

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is wanted by Serie A giants Fiorentina, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The 27-year-old centre-half has been plagued by injury but is on the verge of making his long-awaited return to action following a 12-month injury layoff.

The France international is available for selection but is not yet match fit, having not played since suffering a knee injury in the season-opening defeat to Newcastle United last August.

His return to the fold will give Andre Villas-Boas' side a welcome boost after their 1-0 north London derby defeat on Sunday, though Kaboul's return to fitness has alerted Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

The Viola are monitoring the progress of the former Portsmouth man and are reportedly weighing up a January raid on Tottenham.

Villas-Boas will be reluctant to lose one of his star defenders and will be keen to integrate Kaboul back into the starting XI at White Hart Lane as soon as he is up to speed.

When the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois-born defender does return to the side, he'll be lining up in a new-look Spurs team, with Villas-Boas having gone on a summer spending spree.

Following the record-breaking sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, Tottenham reinvested the cash in players such as Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela, but to name a few.
