Arsenal have told Arsene Wenger that he has their full backing to make another major signing in the January transfer window, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners are still on a high after sealing the signature of Mesut Ozil in a £42m deadline day deal from Real Madrid but the board are ready to release the funds for another mega-move as early as the January transfer window.
The Mirror are reporting that Wenger has a free reign to sign whoever he sees fit with the No.1 target being a proven, world-class centre-forward.
It is believed that Wenger is still keen to bring Luis Suarez to the Emirates after failing to land the Uruguayan this summer.
Arsenal were ready to part with just over £40m for Suarez but met an impasse when Liverpool refused to do business with a Premier League rival.
Their hope is that Liverpool will soften their stance if a top four finish is looking unlikely at the turn of the new year.
Suarez was keen to leave Anfield because of the lack of Champions League football and another season without it could force the controversial striker to hand in a transfer request.
The last minute attempt to bring Demba Ba to north London from Chelsea was nothing more than an attempt to add a reliable squad player. It is now believed Wenger will seek a long-term option at the next opportunity as opposed to a temporary loan deal.
Arsenal are looking short at the tip of their attack with Olivier Giroud representing the only proven striker in the squad.
Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner are the only other strikers likely to feature for Arsenal in the Premier League.
Both Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski can play in the central role but with the latter out for up to three months, and the former playing excellently on the right-wing, it looks as though Wenger will be reliant on Giroud until January at least.
