Barcelona target Reds pair

Liverpool pair Daniel Agger and Pepe Reina are being linked with a January move to Barcelona.

Spanish paper Marca claims the duo are ‘on the list’ of possible Barca reinforcements in the new year, with defence an area the La Liga champions are eager to strengthen.

Agger was linked with a move to the Nou Camp in the later stages of the summer transfer window, with The Daily Mirror claiming Gerardo Martino was preparing a £10million bid for the Reds star back in August.

Reina, meanwhile, had flirted with a move to Barcelona in the early stages of the summer – a factor Brendan Rodgers later admitted cost him his place as the Liverpool number one.

Back in May, the Blaugrana were linked with a £10million move for the stopper. However, he left Anfield for Napoli on a season-long loan.

Liverpool replaced the keeper with Simon Mignolet, and also strengthened at the back on Merseyside with the arrivals of Tiago Ilori, Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho.

Agger is still expected to be a first-team regular for the Reds, despite the trio of centre back signings, and that could be factor as to whether Rodgers lets the Dane leave.

Reina's future seems far less assured at Liverpool, and his permanent exit - to Barcelona or another club - seems much more likely.
