The 31-year-old goalkeeper is currently enjoying a season-long loan with Italian side Napoli, as the shot-stopper reunites with former manager, Rafa Benitez.
According to the Daily Star, Reina has snubbed a return to Liverpool at the end of his Napoli loan and that a deal has been agreed to take Reina to La Liga next season, with Barcelona interested.
The Spaniard started his career with the Catalan giants before joining fellow Spanish outfit Villarreal. Benitez then brought Reina to Anfield in 2005 and hailed him as "the best goalkeeper in Spain".
Reina has been a regular starter for Liverpool ever since he first joined the club, but after a string of mediocre performances, Liverpool purchased Belgian keeper Simon Mignolet after some promising Premier League performances for Sunderland.
Mignolet has been arguably the best goalkeeper in the league so far this season following three consecutive clean sheets in the games against Stoke City, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Reina was very unhappy with how his transfer to Napoli was handled and submitted an open letter expressing his disappointment at the club for loaning him out.
Reina went on to say: "It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first.
"I thought that I deserved better than that, even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football."
