Hidden beneath the frantic deadline day blockbusters, Paul Lambert hinted that Aston Villa might be preparing for life without top goalscorer Christian Benteke, after completing the signing of last season's Europa League top goalscorer, Libor Kozak.
Benteke had been subject of intense transfer speculation at the beginning of the summer but made a huge U-turn and decided to sign a new contract at Villa Park, keeping the Belgium international penned down until 2017.
The forward became an instant sensation during his debut season in the Premier League last term, netting 19 goals.
Concerns over Benteke becoming a one-hit wonder have already been eradicated with the 23-year-old already taking his tally to three goals in as many games.
Chelsea are believed to be favourites for the forward and could reignite their interest in the Belgian in the January transfer market.
Jose Mourinho admitted he was after one more star centre forward, even after bringing Samuel Eto'o to Stamford Bridge.
However, after missing out on Wayne Rooney, Mourinho failed to land a marquee striker.
It would seem that Lambert has already foreseen this outcome, snapping up Kozak from Lazio in a deal worth £7 million.
Kozak, 24, scored 10 goals in last season's Europa League, more than the likes of Edinson Cavani and Fernando Torres.
The arrival of the Czech Republic international gives Lambert five recognised forwards in his current squad, as well as Darren Bent who is currently out on loan.
