Serbia under-19 boss Ljubinko Drulovic has hinted that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may look to make two bids for Serbian stars Nemanja Matic and Lazar Markovic in the January transfer window.
According to A Bola, Mourinho will watch the Serbia against Croatia World Cup qualifying match tonight in Belgrade, personally scouting both Matic and Markovic.
Both young midfielders play for Benfica, with Matic a former-Chelsea player and Markovic – who only joined the Portuguese giants this summer – a former transfer target for the Stamford Bridge club.
And Drulovic, who is a close friend of Mourinho, has revealed the Chelsea boss could be planning a double swoop in the January window for the Serbia duo.
“Mourinho and Abramovich will be at today’s game with Croatia and will certainly observe players,” Drulovic is quoted as saying by A Bola.
“There is talk of Matic and Markovic, Benfica players who Mourinho may have an interest in during the winter market. I will talk a bit with Mourinho and might find out why he wanted to see them play.”
Reports earlier this week quoted the Serbian under-19 manager and revealed Mourinho would be in attendance. At that stage, it was believed to be a personal scouting check-up on Matic – a defensive midfielder.
But Drulovic seems to think Markovic – a talented 19-year-old attacking midfielder – could also be the subject of the Chelsea boss’s interest.
