Portuguese newspaper A Bola carries reports from Italy that claim the Colombian international – a summer target for both Spurs and United – is close to agreeing a new contract even though his current deal doesn’t expire until the end of the 2015/16 season.
Inter reportedly want to end speculation linking Guarin with a move away from the San Siro. They scared off United and Spurs with a £16m valuation earlier this summer, and both clubs ultimately decided to pursue other targets in the summer window.
Spurs picked up Etienne Capoue and Paulinho to strengthen their midfield options, while David Moyes signed one of his old Everton players, Belgian international Marouane Fellaini, on transfer deadline day.
Fellaini was the only first-team addition for United in the window, so they could be busy in the mid-season transfer window depending on their league position.
But Inter want to ensure that neither Premier League club comes knocking again in January, and are reportedly ready to reward Guarin with a new deal.
