Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata insists he is happy at Stamford Bridge despite boundless speculation that he was set to leave the club in the last transfer window.
The Spanish playmaker was Chelsea’s player of the year last year, gaining the plaudits of many football fans worldwide.
However, Mata has found game time hard to come by in the new era of the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho, featuring in just 65 minutes of competitive football for Chelsea.
‘It’s normal in every transfer window that there are lots of rumours but I’m happy here,’ revealed Mata to Chelsea TV.
“It’s been a very, very good two seasons for me here, maybe the best of my career, and I want this season to be the same.
“I’m looking forward to achieving as many trophies as we did the last two seasons and hopefully this is going to be a good season for us again.”
It was reported that PSG were close to completing a move for the out of favour star on deadline day with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also expressing his desire to sign the player.
Although manager Jose Mourinho throughout the window insisted that his player wasn’t for sale, saying he is an integral part of the Chelsea team.
Mata has found it hard to break into the Chelsea team this season, with new signings Marco Van Ginkel, Willian, Kevin De Bruyne and Andre Schurrle joining to compete with Eden Hazard and Oscar for their place in the Chelsea team.
