Manchester United boss David Moyes is preparing a January raid on Aston Villa for star striker, Christian Benteke.
According to the Mirror, the Belgian frontman is seen as the ideal candidate to lead United's front line, with the 22-year-old attracting a number of admirers for his impressive displays in the Premier League since joining the midlands outfit last year.
Chelsea and Tottenham were both heavily linked with Benteke after the powerful striker asked to leave Aston Villa in the summer, before committing his future to the Villains, signing a new and improved long-term contract.
However, that extension hasn't put Moyes off plotting a move for the powerful forward, with the Manchester United chief personally scouting the ex-Genk ace during Belgium's 2-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park on Friday night.
Despite his new bumper £60,000-a-week contract, Villa boss Paul Lambert is braced for bids for his star striker, with the coveted hit-man having scored 22 goals in 37 appearances for Aston Villa to date.
With Wayne Rooney's Old Trafford future still up in the air and with Robin van Persie approaching the wrong side of 30, United need a new no.9 who can lead the Moyes era - and Benteke is believed to be that man.
