Manchester United's deadline day target, Arda Turan, is set to sign a new deal with Atletico, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
The Turkish midfielder, who currently has a release clause of around £20million, was reportedly the subject of late deadline day bid from Manchester United, but an agreement never materialised.
And now the 26-year-old, who has also been linked with Chelsea, will put pen to paper on a new deal until 2017 that could see his release clause rise to €40million.
It is thought that Atletico are proposing the new deal in an attempt to guard against any returning interest from United in the January transfer window, as the Red Devils remain in the market for a midfielder having only managed to purchase Marouane Fellaini during the summer.
Turan signed for Atletico from Galatasaray in 2011 and is considered a hot prospect on the European market.
It remains to be seen whether or not he will sign a new deal given the interest from the likes of the Premier League champions, but Atletico are certainly poised to try and convince him to do so.
