David Moyes and perhaps more vehemently Ed Woodward, have been bemoaned for a lack of high-profile purchases this summer.
A much publicised string of rejections, combined with calamitous negotiations and an overall lack of intent to spend have all contributed to what has been a poor start to David Moyes' Manchester United managerial career in terms of dealings in the transfer market.
All hope is not lost however! In four months or so the barriers will left and clubs will once again look to strengthen their team by poaching their rival's stars, whilst all the while trying to ensure they keep hold of their own.
One can say with little doubt that Moyes will look to make a bold statement in the January transfer window, and with a number of targets being linked with Old Trafford, there's no reason why he can't appease fans and critics alike, as long as he's willing to splash the cash.
