Manchester United remain the favourites to sign Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao, despite interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.
The Portuguese winger was set for a season-long loan move to Old Trafford on deadline day, but the deal was cancelled at the last minute as Real Madrid failed to find a desired replacement in time.
That hasn't stopped the bookies altering their odds to favour more offers coming in for Coentrao once the January transfer window opens. Sky Bet have made United 3/1 favourites to return for the full-back in January, placing them ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal, who have odds of 9/1 and 33/1 respectively.
Contrary to initial reports that suggested Coentrao was lamenting the breakdown of a switch that would see plying his trade at Old Trafford this season, the 25-year-old has publicly expressed his desire to do well for Real Madrid.
Whilst he may remain happy there for the moment however, it may well transpire that he opts to follow Mesut Ozil out the door, should any of his suitors renew their interest in acquiring his services come January.
