Barcelona will hold talks with the Argentinian FA over the possible release of talisman Lionel Messi provided Argentina defeat or draw with Paraguay, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Argentina currently sit at the top of the CONMEBOL 2014 World Cup qualifying standings - tied with Columbia - with 26 points. One point from their upcoming game versus Paraguay would confirm their spot at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
If Argentina get that point, or other results go their way and seal Argentina's spot, then Barcelona will talk to the AFA about not selecting Messi for the next series of games on the 11th and 15th of October against Peru and Uruguay respectively.
Barca boss Gerardo 'Tata' Martino is said to have placed extreme importance over the matter as he wants Messi to avoid exhausting journeys.
Argentina play Paraguay tomorrow night in Lima, with their opponents all but eliminated from World Cup contention but who can still cause problems for Alejandro Sabella's men.
Paraguay currently sit second from bottom of the standings on 11 points and would require Uruguay to lose all three remaining games, Venezuela to pick up only three points from three matches and Peru to get less than six points from their next three fixtures.
