Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have been linked with a shock move for Barcelona 'keeper Victor Valdes, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

It has been well documented that Valdes' contract runs out at the end of this coming season, and interest from abroad to acquire his services has been rife. Now though, according to a source close to the Barcelona camp, Jose Mourinho is showing interest.

The 31-year-old shot stopper has publicly stated his desire to leave the Nou Camp for pastures new, but speculation of reported intent from Chelsea's camp will surely come as a shock to most fans, particularly with the long-serving Petr Cech and young starlet Thibaut Courtois on the books at Stamford Bridge.

With Valdes set to leave on a free, and rumours beginning to surface that this may in fact be Cech's last term as Chelsea's recognised number one, Mourinho it seems is preparing for squad adjustment sooner rather than later.

Where this news, if completely accurate, leaves the future of Courtois remains to be seen. The young 'keeper has excelled whilst on loan at Atletico Madrid, and is seen by many to be very much one for the future for the Blues.
