Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a new contract which will make him the highest paid player in the world and keep him at the Bernabeu until 2018, according to AS.
The Spanish newspaper report that the 2008 Ballon d'Or winner's new deal will be formally announced by club president Florentino Perez before or on September 22.
Ronaldo has flourished at Real Madrid since his £80m move from Manchester United in 2009, with a staggering record of 202 goals from 202 matches.
However, he was surpassed as the world's most expensive footballer - and the highest paid player at Real Madrid - by new team-mate Gareth Bale, who completed his £85.3m move from Tottenham earlier this month.
Real Madrid, though, are keen to keep their star man happy. Ronaldo was linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer - specifically to former club Manchester United - but the Portugal international looks set to stay with the Spanish giants for the foreseeable future.
