The Premier League, arguably the strongest division in world football, is often globally renowned primarily due to its formidable array of attacking talent. With its ability to bring in players from all over the world, the English top-flight has been blessed with a number of talismanic frontmen that have gone on to forge hugely successful reputations on these shores.

However, the outcome of a football match, in the Premier League or anywhere else, is obviously not solely dependent upon attackers. Strong and resilient defensive displays are also crucial to the success of a team, as is the need for a talented and dependable goalkeeper between the posts.

Goalkeepers are often given a torrid time due to the high-pressured nature of their job. If a midfielder or striker makes a mistake it is rarely likely to result in immediate calamity, but a goalkeeping blunder can cost a team dearly as they ultimately act as the crucial last-line of defence.

In no particular order, GMS counts down the five best goalkeepers to have played in the Premier League. Such choices are subject to individual opinion, of course, so feel free to leave your opinions and choices below....
