Edinson Cavani has praised Radamel Falcao ahead of the World Cup qualifying clash between Uruguay and Colombia.

Speaking to AFP, Cavani said: "I think Falcao is one of the best strikers because of the way he plays, more than simply being a player with a lot of class, to define a game, a style of play.

"He's proven that he's a player who works hard, he's very strong both tactically and technically."

Both signed for their respective clubs this summer, successively breaking the Ligue 1 transfer record as they did so.

Falcao moved to Monaco for a reported £50million at the end of May, before Cavani made his switch to the Parc des Princes a fortnight later. His transfer from Napoli cost £55million.

The two are yet to clash in the French top flight this season, although PSG host Monaco on the 22nd September. However, the pair will meet tonight when Colombia travel to Uruguay, with both teams still fighting to qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Colombia currently sit joint-top with Argentina and they go into the game knowing that a point will be enough to seal automatic qualification, while Uruguay currently sit in the play-off position and need every point they can get in the South American zone.
