Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has praised new signing Mesut Ozil, but says he has some work to do in order to be mentioned int he same breath as Gunners legend Dennis Bergkamp.
Ozil joined Arsenal on deadline day in a club-record £42.5 million move from Real Madrid, while the landing of a marquee signing late on in the transfer window has prompted comparisons with the arrival of Bergkamp, who went on to win three Premier League titles with the club, in 1995.
Gibbs has hailed the German International as a "world class" addition to Arsenal's squad, but believes he has work to do in order to be ranked alongside the Dutchman in Arsenal's history.
"He's going to create a lot of problems for opposition we come up against and hopefully he can continue the form that he had with Real Madrid," the defender told Arsenal Player.
"He'll still have work to do to match Dennis Bergkamp and what he's done for the club but he's a world-class player and he looks very determined to come and help the team out."
Ozil will make his debut for Arsenal upon his return from international Germany, against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
