Cristian Tello, one of Barcelona's hottest prospects, has revealed how he turned down a move to Liverpool this summer, reports the Metro.
The 22-year-old, has played for Barcelona and Spain at all youth levels and looks set to be given a chance to shine in the Barcelona senior side this year.
He does however, face tough competition for a starting spot, with new signing Neymar, Ibrahim Afellay, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Tello did manage to feature 29 times for Tito Vilanova's side last year, but the arrival of Brazilian starlet Neymar looks set to limit his first-team opportunities.
The Spanish prodigy has worked his way up through the famous Catalan youth system and will have his heart set on becoming a Barcelona household name.
But Tello reveals how Liverpool were never an option for him as he's fully committed on staying at the Camp Nou.
"I always wanted to stay here," he said.
"The coach has confidence in me, I’m happy and ready to play."
"I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving."
The tricky winger starred in the Spain Under-21s side that were crowned European champions in Israel this summer and has already made two substitute appearances for Barcelona this season.
