Germany defender Per Mertesacker insists the national team must improve in the future, despite a 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands last night.
The Germans strolled to a comfortable victory with goals from the defender and his Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil, before Thomas Mueller capped the win off late-on as they assert their authority at the top of Group C.
However, Joachim Low's side put in a less than spectacular performance, with Mertesacker claiming that they must count out their inconsistencies.
He told kicker.de: "In the decisive moments, how we played in attack was not so consistent. We must do better."
When they inevitably qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil, the Germans will go into the tournament as one of the favourites to emerge victorious along with Spain, Argentina and the hosts.
'Die Mannschaft' have finished the last two World Cup tournaments in third place, and will be looking to go a couple of steps better by winning at the biggest stage for the first time since 1990.
However, they cannot afford too many performances like last night, as despite their 3-0 victory in a match they were always expected to win, they put in a laboured display against the Faroes.
