Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov has refuted suggestions he had his heart set on a move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Kolarov, who plied his trade in Italy before moving to Manchester City, had been the subject of intense speculation during the summer.

However Kolarov has played down talk that he wanted to leave the Etihad Stadium by declaring how happy he is at Manchester City.

Kolarov, speaking to reporters after Serbia's 3-0 win over Wales, said of his desire to stay at City: “There were a lot of things said in the papers, but I never said I wanted to go.

“I have two more years of contract at City, so I’m focused on working hard in training and, when I have the chance to play, giving my best. I am happy at City and one or two years - we’ll see what happens.”

Kolarov struggled to hold down a regular place in Roberto Mancini's starting line-up with the Italian coach regularly opting for France left-back Gael Clichy over the Serbian star.

New manager Manuel Pellegrini does not seem set on who he wants to start at left-back with the aforementioned Clichy starting two Premier League games and Kolarov starting one.

Kolarov will be hoping he can get a number of starts under his belt over the next few weeks as Pellegrini's side have seven games in the next 24 days.
