Japan - AFC
World Cup Appearance: 5th
Best Performance: Round of 16 (2002, 2010)
Key Players: Shinji Kagawa, Keisuke Honda, Shinji Okazaki
Japan were the first team to qualify earlier this year when they topped their AFC Final Group.
The Asian side have become a fixture of the World Cup since their first appearance at France 1998 but have yet to progress further than the Round of 16.
They have a lot of talent at top clubs in Europe and will look towards these players for inspiration.
CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda and their most capped player ever, Yasuhito Endo, will hold down the centre of midfield - letting Shinji Kagawa play a more attacking role in support of the prolific Shinji Okazaki, who has scored 35 goals in his 68 games for Japan.
