Iran - AFC

World Cup Appearance: 4th

Best Performance: Group Stage (1978, 1998, 2006)

Key Players: Reza Ghoochannejhad, Andranik Teymourian, Javad Nekounam

Iran sealed their spot at the 2014 World Cup with a win over South Korea 1-0 back in June.

The result means for the second time in a decade the Middle Eastern side will be represented at the World Cup. The last time they qualified, they managed to get a point after a 1-1 draw with Angola.

They'll head into the tournament as one of the weaker sides, with teams maybe opting to try and run up the goal ratio against them but they could certainly provide a spanner in the works to those teams as well.

Standard Liege striker, Reza Ghoochannejhad is their main point of call going forward while former Bolton and Fulham midfielder, Andranik Teymourian and captain, Javad Nekounam are a talented midfield duo.
