Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has applauded Arsenal's £42.5million capture of Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline-day. He also believes that Mathieu Flamini will play an essential role for Arsenal this season.

Speaking to a group of reporters, Lehmann seemed to be in a happy mood when he suggested that Arsenal will be a trophy-winning team this season.

"At the end, Arsenal has to win something with him [Mesut Ozil], so there's no pressure!" Lehmann told the press

Mesut Ozil was a shock signing for Arsenal. He's one of the best number tens in the world and provided a supply line

for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, and Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. The Arsenal faithful will be hoping he can do the same for the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, and his German international teammate Lukas Podolski at the Emirates.

"I think he could boost the other players, boost the supporters, and even the club. Making a big signing, finally, after years of not signing a big player for big money, could be a boost for the whole club," Lehmann explained his enthusiasm.

When he was asked if he was surprised by Arsenal's willingness to spend so much money one player, he said, "I think it was a conclusion of some of the signings of previous years when the supporters asked for spending.

"It's quite unlikely that they will make money on Ozil. Arsene Wenger is well known for making money on players, buying cheap, selling expensive."

"On Ozil, this could be a real challenge. to sell him for more than he bought him!"

When asked about his former teammate Mathieu Flamini, Lehmann said, "He's a fantastic player, one who really fits into the Arsenal style. Flamini is an important signing and he's a package that could make a real impact, that's my hope."

With Tomas Rosicky out with an injury sustained on international dutyit is possible the Gunners fans could see Ozil make his Arsenal debut this weekend, with a trip to Sunderland first up on Saturday.
