Cars, houses, yachts...billionaires can pretty much afford whatever they want.

It seems however that in recent years this is not enough and the ultimate luxury purchase for the staggeringly wealthy is to own a stake in a football club.

Roman Abramovich is possibly the most iconic foreign billionaire to have purchased a football club. In less than 10 years, the Russian tycoon has spent over $2.97 billion on Chelsea seeing the club win just about every major trophy going.

Abramovich’s net worth is estimated to be in the region of £6.6 billion so its no wonder that £50 million transfer window spending sprees is common for the Blues.

More than 50 billionaires have stakes in football teams and the 46year-old tycoon has hit the heights of No.10 on the list.
