Last season's Premier League title race ultimately proved to be somewhat of an anti-climax. While many expected the protracted pursuit for the coveted top-flight trophy to go right down to the wire following the thrilling drama that transpired on the final day of the previous campaign, Manchester United eventually strolled to their 20th triumph with ease after finishing a full 11 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City.

Fans who may have felt bereft of any real excitement were rewarded this summer, however, as the Premier League witnessed one of the most lively, surprising and frantic transfer windows in recent memory. Manchester United's eventful but hugely frustrating pursuit of several star names continued to make headlines, while Arsenal's impressive capture of German playmaker Mesut Ozil both stunned and delighted Gunners fans across North London.

Now, with Premier League bosses mostly certain of the individuals they will be able to call upon this season - until January, at least - GMS identifies ten players from last season's top five who will potentially have the biggest impact on this season's race for Premier League glory...
