Following an extended break due to the latest round of crucial World Cup qualifying action, the Premier League returns in all of its magnificent splendour this weekend.

England's rather dire goalless draw against Ukraine in Kiev on Tuesday evening is unlikely to have generated much excitement among the nation's football fanatics, so hopefully the top-flight will be able to bring some much needed sparkle back to proceedings.

This weekend's matches in what is arguably the world's finest footballing division have been given added spice due to what was an especially and somewhat surprisingly frantic end to this summer's transfer window. With a multitude of recent signings possibly set to make their debuts, supporters and managers alike will be eager to catch a glimpse of their newly-acquired stars in action.
