Real Madrid goalkeeper's future uncertain

The girlfriend of unsettled Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has added to rumours surrounding a possible Bernabau exit, with comments suggesting her baby may not be born in Madrid, or even Spain.

Casillas, in a high-profile saga, lost his number one spot under former manager Jose Mourinho, being replaced by Diego Lopez.

Mourinho reportedly dropped the Spanish international captain because he favours bigger, taller keepers who attempt to dominate the penalty area.

The 32-year-old is clearly unhappy. He has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund but is so far keeping quiet.

Casillas was expected to regain his place in the side with the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as manager, however, the Italian has carried on from where Mourinho left-off, by favouring Lopez.

Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has supposedly attempted to act as peace-maker in a bid to convince the player to stay in the capital.

According to the Express, Sara Carbonero, Casillas' girlfriend, has told Spanish newspaper Marca, that she may not be giving birth to their child in Madrid.

"I do not know if my son will be born in Madrid or outside Spain, not the day to talk about it," she said.

Should he become available, Casillas will attract a host of Europe's top clubs. The Real veteran has won the World Cup, two European Championship's, two UEFA Champions League titles and five La Liga titles in a glittering career.
