West Bromwich manager Steve Clarke has insisted that Saido Berahino will not be loaned out this out this season, according to The Telegraph.
The young striker has been in fine form for club and country so far this season.
A hat-trick in the Baggies' League Cup tie against Newport County has been backed up by call-ups to the England U21 squad, and he has subsequently scored two goals in two games for the Young Lions.
The 20-year-old has been sent out on loan three times in the past, to Northampton Town, Brentford and Peterborough United, and has always impressed in the past.
This season, Berahino made his first Premier League appearance following a long injury lay-off prior to the summer.
There has been interest from Football League clubs to take Berahino on-loan once again, after the club recruited heavily to leave tough competition for places up-front. Nicolas Anelka, Victor Anichebe, Stephane Sessegnon, Scott Sinclair and Matej Vydra have all arrived at the Hawthorns.
However, Clarke ruled out the possibility of a move away from the Midlands, insisting he wants to keep the youngster in and around the first team squad.
"I want to keep him around the squad. He deserves that for now as he’s been good for us," said the Scot.
"I want to keep him involved and make sure physically he’s OK. If in five or six weeks’ time he has not had enough football then we’ll have a decision to make."
Albion will hope for their first win of the season against Fulham this weekend, and victory would almost certainly take them off the bottom of the table.
