New England Patriots' narrow win over the New York Jets on Thursday night ended in mild controversy as two players were ejected following and brawl between players from both sides.
It was a game low on quality at the Gillette Stadium as the Patriots ran out winners 13-10 on a damp evening in Foxborough, and tempers flared in the fourth quarter as both players let their frustrations out.
Aqib Talib's interception from another misplaced Geno Smith pass effectively secured the victory for the Patriots, and things began to get tasty when the cornerback was crunched by Nick Mangold of the Jets.
Mangold robustly careered into the knee of Talib, who managed to spring to his feet and begin showboating, but a scuffle soon broke out between players incensed at the behaviour of the opposition.
Jets duo D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Willie Colon were ejected - Ferguson for throwing a hand at Vince Wilfork while protecting Mangold, and Colon for interfering with an official.
