Andros Townsend, at just 22-years old, is shaping up nicely to follow in the steps of former team-mate Gareth Bale.
In the early stages of this season Townsend has shown plenty of promise down both the left and right wing, and looks set for a very successful season.
He has gone right through Tottenham's youth ranks; from the academy right up to the 1st 11. Last season Townsend went on loan to QPR, and looked very much like their best player, and this time round he is looking very promising and his recent performances have even been worthy of a call-up to England's last two World Cup Qualifying Games.
Tottenham's options on the wing are Gylfi Siggurdsson, Aaron Lennon and they have been joined by two new signings in Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela, which now means there is a great deal of competition to get into that all important starting lineup, but with Aaron Lennon out with an injury, a gap has opened up for Townsend and he has filled it very well.
Along with his pace and crossing ability, Townsend favours cutting in from the right-hand side and firing in a shot with his left. This is just one of several similarities between him and the world's most expensive player.
There is of course still a long way to go this season, but I think if Townsend continues in the way that he has started, he could be a major impact on Tottenham and on the Premier League as a whole, just like his former world class team-mate Gareth Bale.
Of course, he is still a way off that but if his promise is anything to go by, it could be a big year for the player indeed.
