Barcelona star Neymar is a better player than Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo was at the same age, according to the Brazilian's agent Wagner Ribeiro.
Neymar's agent wrote on Twitter: "Neymar and Cristiano were born on the same day, the 5th February. When he was Neymar's age he was mediocre".
Ribeiro then controversially added: "Currently he is only above Neymar in weight".
His comments came just hours after Ronaldo, who was playing at Manchester United as a 21-year-old, signed a lucrative new contract to become the world's highest paid footballer at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo will now earn an annual salary of €17m - approximately £14.25m - and is set to stay with the Spanish giants until 2018.
Meanwhile, Neymar - who joined Barcelona in June for £48.6m - is widely regarded as the most talented footballer to emerge from Brazil for years.
The former Santos star has scored one goal in his first six appearances at the Camp Nou - but has started to show glimpses of his brilliance in recent matches.
The two players will go head-to-head when Barcelona host Real Madrid on October 26.
