Barcelona have signed nine-year-old Zico Jr Marecaldi from BK Olympic.

The youngster is already well-known in his homeland of Sweden, according to Sky Sports, and has been drafted in by the Spanish giants after impressing at a recruitment camp.

Zico Jr will hope to follow in the footsteps of other famous Swedes who have stolen the limelight in Catalonia, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson two players to enjoy success at the Nou Camp.

The move is set to take place on Wednesday, with BK Olympic, based near Malmo, confirming that the youngster is set to face ‘new challenges’ away from his current environment.

"On Wednesday Zico leaves for Barcelona for new challenges," the club wrote on their official site.

Despite the big step-up in standard, the youngster certainly isn’t fazed by the challenge, and is looking forward to his chance with the Blaugrana.

"It's going to be cool," he told Swedish paper Skaanska Dagbladet.

Indeed, the whole family is preparing for life in Barcelona, with his father, who is a coach for BK Olympic, revealing to the paper that they plan to move to Spain ‘as soon as possible’.
