Sergio Ramos has described new Real Madrid signing Gareth Bale as frightening.
The Spain centre-back has been left dumbfounded at just how good the Welshman really is. No one at the club knew much about Bale before his big money move to the Spanish capital, but they certainly do now.
Bale scored on his debut against Villareal, with the match ending a 2-2 draw. And, Ramos now sees exactly why Florentino Perez was so determined to sign the 24-year-old.
"Of course Gareth Bale has been the biggest transfer of the summer - and we are glad now that he is with us," he said.
"The truth is because he did not play for a team in England that played in the Champions League - we did not know that much about him.
"We know if the coach wanted him that strongly he must be a good player - but nobody was prepared for how special he is."
It is clear that Ramos hasn't watched Bale in Champions League action, most notably against Inter Milan a few years ago when he took out the entire defence with his pace and trickery. Lucio and Maicon will surely recall the name Gareth Bale.
The Spanish giants have travelled to Istanbul where they will face Turkish champions Galatasaray.
And Bale's Madrid colleagues will be hoping their record signing will be able to get them off to a flying start in a competition that has eluded them for over a decade.
Bale might just prove to be that 'missing' piece in the jigsaw puzzle, and he knows that he will have to deliver to keep the fans happy in the capital.
