David Moyes says that he is in regular contact with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he begins to settle in at Manchester United.
Ferguson stayed away from Old Trafford for the first home game - a 0-0 draw with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea - as he was recovering following a hip operation, but he was in attendance during Saturday's win over Crystal Palace, and Moyes was glad to get to talk to the retired boss.
He said: "Sir Alex was at the game on Saturday and I shared some time with him and talked about the game.
"I've not talked to him about Leverkusen, Sociedad and Shakhtar. But I speak to him quite regularly and talked to him recently about the number of games we've got coming up, and how we would usuallly use the squad at times like this."
Ferguson's advice will no doubt be invaluable to Moyes, who makes his Champions League bow for the club in tonight's clash with Bayer Leverkusen, and the new man at the helm also revealed a meeting with a United legend, which he described as "fantastic".
"It was a really important moment for me, when Sir Bobby [Charlton] said he wanted to come and see me," said Moyes. "When he came in he was fantastic. He's an incredibly humble man.
"He explained what it meant to be at United, explained what manager's here should be like and then he talked about football. He's very intelligent and knowledgeable about the game."
He added: "I found his company great. After every game he comes into the dressing room and talks with us for a few moments."
It seems Moyes has the backing from some of the true greats at the club, and it is now up to him to deliver the expected success, starting with a home win against Leverkusen tonight.
