Arsenal have been handed a double boost with news that both Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud will be fit to face Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The pair were instrumental in the Gunners’ 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the weekend, with the German international setting-up his French teammate for the opening goal at the Stadium of Light.

However, a stomach bug had been affecting Ozil on Wearside, and he wasn’t at full fitness during his debut against Paolo Di Canio’s side.

Giroud, meanwhile, suffered a knee injury in the win, and was expected to be a doubt for the opening Group F encounter at the Stade Velodrome.

The 26-year-old was training at the club’s London Colney ground ahead of the trip to France though, and the club have confirmed he’s available to take part.

It’s a major boost for Arsene Wenger, who is relatively short of attacking options at the Emirates Stadium this season. He’ll have to do without Santi Cazorla for a few weeks however, with the Spaniard out through injury.
