Mesut Ozil showed why he is the signing of the summer transfer window. Forget about Gareth Bale, Arsenal have landed statistically the best playmaker in Europe, and he justified his nickname 'King of the Assist' after setting up Olivier Giroud after just 11 minutes into his Arsenal career.
But, is he enough for Arsenal to win the title? In my opinion: no, but if the Gunners win the majority of their games before the January transfer window, then sign a centre-back and a centre-forward, they will be a title-winning side.
Arsenal got another impressive win against Sunderland on Saturday after recovering from their poor start to the season. The Gunners won 3-1 at the Stadium of Light with goals from in-form players Giroud and Aaron Ramsey.
However, there were some weak points to their result, such as the defence was poor in the second half. To be fair, Per Mertesacker was missing from the defence but they still gave away too many opportunities for a weak, new Sunderland side.
Arsenal will definitely need to sign a centre-back in January. The best and probably easiest signing to make would be Valencia defender Adil Rami, 27, who was made available for a transfer by the Spanish side but wasn't bought by anyone in the end but Arsenal were heavily linked with the player near the end of the transfer window.
He has enough international experience and good enough credentials to become an Arsenal player and he would be great to have alongside Koscielny, Mertesacker and Vermaelen.
Another signing that would be useful would be another centre-forward. If Giroud gets injured before January, Arsenal won't have another out-and-out striker and the Gunners will lack goals. I don't see why Wenger didn't look at Jackson Martinez as someone to bring in. He is a very good player and would fit in with Arsenal's game very well.
If Arsenal can sign Rami and Martinez in the January window, I believe they can win the title. If you look at the Arsenal squad on paper with those new faces they'll be a seriously menacing team in the future an could win a lot of trophies.
