Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has made a return to the bench – assisting U19 coach Nicky Butt on a game-by-game basis.

And, to help settle him settle into the job, he’s called on the services of the 38-year-old club legend, who enjoyed two decades as a player at Old Trafford.
The club wrote on their official Twitter account: “U-19s boss Nicky Butt is joined on the bench by Paul Scholes, who is assisting Nicky on a game-by-game basis. #mufc”
Their first game together comes against Bayer Leverkusen, with the Bundesliga side’s youth team making the trip to the Salford City Stadium in the UEFA Youth League ahead of the senior side’s clash against Manchester United in the Champions League tonight (Tuesday).
United fans will be eager to see how Butt and Scholes get on in management following their success on the pitch, and it remains to be seen if they can follow other former players from the Sir Alex Ferguson era into a career in coaching.
