Spanish defender Martin Montoya is being targeted by Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool, according to InsideFutbol.com.

The 22-year-old’s contract with current club Barcelona expires next summer and the player’s agent has reportedly told the club that talks over a renewal will be difficult.

Montoya has become frustrated with his lack of playing time due to being behind Barcelona star Dani Alves in the pecking order at Camp Nou.

Manchester United and Liverpool, along with a host of other clubs, are all said to be interested in the full-back and believe they could get him for a cut-price when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Montoya has been a regular fixture in the Spanish under-21’s side who managed to win the European Championship this summer.

The youngster also contributed to Barcelona’s successful La Liga campaign last season, making 15 league appearances for the Catalan club last season.
